There is something magical about snow. The fact that something so delicate and gentle can be such a hard to move force.
Snow can transform the very look of land. It can cover and hide objects. And shelter living beings.
Each flake is an individual. It has its own shape and history.
Each flake is formed and created. It is a mystery.

Too much snow.
Here in Philadelphia we don't get much snow but when we do, it makes up for lost time.
Twenty -eight and 1/2 inches fell on Saturday. Shoveling is not my idea of a great weekend.
We expect even more on Wednesday.
The activity at my bird feeder was frantic. Birds ate all day long we short breaks probably for water.
Even the Dark-eyed Junco were flying around from branch to branch and not hopping in the deep snow.
It is the winter and deep snow storms like this one that I make sure the feeders are well stocked. I guess the birds are grateful at the ready source of food.

Hiding behind technology
I have been thinking the last two days about how some humans hide behind technology.
It seems that by surrounding ourselves with machines and gadgets, that we are hiding the fact that we are living beings just like cougars, hummingbirds or monkeys.
Did you feel a tinge of some emotions or feeling when you read the last sentence? I have tinges of that uncomfortableness. And being uncomfortable is uncomfortable.
For some, being human is an embarrassment. Something to run from or deny. It is seen as something base and undesirable.
Perhaps, this is why some people work so hard to distance themselves from the natural world and a natural lifestyle.
If you have seen Avatar, could you live in a beautiful, abundant world, in a manner which contributed to that abundance? How would do you imagine living?
